“There are no other people I would want to be in the mud with than you as we walk through this fire together” ✖️ These past few weeks have been really hard... for all of us. I’ve been oscillating between feelings of duty and service and a sense of fear and helplessness. What has consistently strengthened my morale though, is what I’ve seen around me. As you know, art has always been my catharsis, so I’ve decided to create a series of illustrations that encapsulate these times from the amazing people around me- through their own words. I want to tell their stories. I want to highlight these heroes around me, to raise them up. Recognize them. But most of all, I want to thank them for what they do for us all. ✖️ “...But what’s amazing to see is that after we‘ve all been, thrown into this with this situation, every single person is going with it and doing everything in their power to help. We volunteer to do things outside of our job description because we know we are all in the same difficult position, and the only way to get through it is to work together. ” - Gabriela Z., RN ✖️ #covid #covid19 #coronavirus #healthcareworkers #frontlineworkers #nurses #RN #portraitsofheroes #portraitsofhcw #MD #doctor #nyc #nystrong
