Betsy Enzensberger is a Los Angeles-based pop artist who has gained massive recognition in the art world over the last few years. Her Original Melting Pops™ sculptures enjoy extensive digital representation across the internet and social media. The sculptures are also represented by the galleries in the industry and are frequently shown at the most prestigious events around the globe. ‍ Enzensberger was born and raised in New York. She graduated from Tulane University and is now a Los Angeles-based artist with a studio in Mar Vista and in Palm Springs. She has exhibited with galleries domestically in Los Angeles, Miami, Des Moines, Dallas, Charlotte, and New York, and internationally in Hong Kong, London, Stockholm, Hamburg and Byron Bay, Australia. You can find her sculptures in multiple public and private art collections. Betsy Enzensberger has become quite well known for her realistic, larger-than-life sculptures of dripping, frozen treats. Resin looks like candy. It appears delicious and sweet. The shiny exterior has a wet, melting quality. Her Tragically Sweet series plays with the desires of everyone’s inner child. The lure of sweet, sticky popsicles artificially instills intense longing. The colorful confections practically beg to be rescued and consumed. ‍ “Resin - I love it. It’s beautiful, sexy, mysterious. It’s also toxic, messy, and annoyingly exhausting to create. However, I enjoy the challenges that resin presents. There’s just something about it I can’t resist. If the process was easy, I wouldn’t be doing it.”

It’s important to me to continue to evolve and create joyful sculptures for ArtSugar.  Previously, I had created a line of soft, baby pink sprinkle pops exclusively for ArtSugar. This particular pink was their primary color, so it made sense. When Alix approached me with new colors, I instantly started dreaming up new ideas. First, I did the obvious: I chose pairs and trios of solid colors, cast them into pops and stacked my favorites together. As I was “melting” these stacks, I saw these amazing color swirls. Then, I decided to swirl my favorite colors together in single pops. Each piece from this series was designed with joy in mind. I paired color combinations until my heart skipped a beat. That’s how I knew I’d found a combination that would bring joy to the viewer.
